News about the upcoming Art Exhibits in March and April
Each spring the Town of Mount Pleasant teams with the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild to present two Art Exhibits. The first exhibit will take place at the Towne Center on Saturday, March 20th. The second exhibit is The Blessing of the Fleet Exhibit on Sunday, April 25th at the new Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. These exhibits demonstrate the strong support of the arts by the Town of Mount Pleasant.
Members of the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild are enthusiastic about their upcoming exhibit at the Fourteenth Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Art Fest at the Towne Center. The Art Fest will take place on Saturday March 20th from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. It is located off of Hwy 17 near the IOP Connector. Over one hundred paintings will be on display. We are pleased to announce that the judge for this exhibit will be Victoria Platt Ellis of the Ellis-Nicholson Gallery in Charleston. You may visit her website at: www.ellis-nicholsongallery.com . Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second, Third Place and Honorable Mention. The People’s Choice Award Ribbon is determined by votes cast by the visitors to the Towne Center Arts Fest. Last year over one hundred and twenty people voted for their favorite painting in this popular event. The Mount Pleasant Artist Guild hopes to have an even larger turn out this year. A percentage of the funds from the sale of art work at the Artist Guild Exhibit will be donated to the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild Scholarship Award. Each year a scholarship is awarded to a senior in high school who is planning on furthering their education in the field of Art. The student must be a resident of Mount Pleasant. The Mount Pleasant Artist Guild has been in existence since 1995 and is made up of local artists. They welcome new members at their monthly meeting, which is held at the Town Hall in Mount Pleasant on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM. Future plans for the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild include preparation of artwork to be displayed at the Mount Pleasant Blessing of the Fleet event. Each year the members of the Art Guild look forward to displaying their Art Work during the Blessing of the Fleet. This year the Exhibit will be housed in the new Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park Visitor’s Center. The Blessing of the Fleet is scheduled for Sunday, April 26th. We are pleased to announce that the judge for this show will be Chris Groves from the Horton Hayes Gallery in Charleston (http://www.hortonhayes.com/default.asp).
